living in slums. More than 40% of the population of Chennai
and Ahmedabad is living in slums.
More than 55% of the population of
Mumbai
is living in slums.
AND
the slum population is growing at a rate of 8%-9% annually.
With this growth rate, the slum population doubles in every
eight and half to nine years
